Ffeil HBA2/12 - Hodgeston manor and advowson

Title deeds, letters and legal papers to prove the title of [Pryse Loveden] Pryse to the advowson of the rectory of Hodgeston, 1657-1729. The deeds describe the partition of the manor of Hodgeston, held jointly with Robert Earl of Essex, and the descent of the advowson from Thomas ap Rice of Rickardstone (Rickeston), claimed by Thomas ap Rice of Roch, 1657, and Edward ap Rice, 1660, and sold by John ap Rice of Scotsborough and William Davies of Nash [his mortagee] to Nicholas Lewis of Heane Castle, 1667. A final concord indicates a transaction by John Lewis, 1710. The letters are addressed to Walter Pryse, 1728. The legal papers relate to a case between Sir Arthur Owen, and George Lewis Langton and Thomas Davies, 1728/9. A statement of the title of Mr Pryse is watermarked 1827
