Some ninety-nine letters and postcards, 1975-2013, from the poet and local historian Ruth Bidgood, Abergwesyn and later Beulah, Powys, addressed to the Rev. James Coutts, and frequently also to his wife Stevie, discussing her poetry, publications and public readings, her daily life and her family, containing frequent references to friends including Anne Cluysenaar, Angela Morton and A. M. (Donald) Allchin (ff. 1-188, 191-214).
Also included are typescript copies of eighteen of Bidgood's poems and sequences of poems, published and unpublished, [c. 1979]-2014, notably 'Hymn to Sant Ffraed' (ff. 215-225), most given by her to Coutts and a few re-typed by him, and cuttings and photocopies of a further fifteen poems from periodicals, 1983-2002 (ff. 25, 37-38, 52-53, 70, 116, 120, 215-265); typescript drafts, cuttings and photocopies of articles, interviews and reviews, [1978]-2006 (ff. 266-299), including two typescript articles by Donald Allchin (ff. 279-293); and a letter from Bidgood's friend Mary [MacGregor], of Myddfai, to James Coutts, 2 June 2009 (ff. 189-190). Many of the letters were written on the backs of sixty-three of Bidgood's own photographs, so as to resemble postcards; besides these a further twenty-nine of her photographs are also included amongst the letters.

They comprise: (i) 'America 1851-1852', dated April 1973, a translation by Mari Ellis of the diary of Iorthryn Gwynedd (NLW MS 9521A), with an introduction by Clare Taylor; (ii) 'The Phillipps Manuscript: A Chapter in Early Welsh Migration to the West Indies and to the United States', 1973, a transcript of NLW MS 92B with an introduction by Clare Taylor (the introduction only was published, with the same title, in National Library of Wales Journal, 19.3 (Summer 1976), 243-248); (iii) 'A Description of Trinidad 1881-1882', 1973, a transcript of [?part of] NLW MS 17267D; (iv-vii) 'A Victorian Guide to Wales', 1973 and undated, four volumes containing transcripts from nineteenth-century trade directories of descriptions of individual parishes in Anglesey, Caernarvonshire, Denbighshire and Montgomeryshire; (viii) an article, 1979, entitled 'The Journal of an Absentee Proprietor: Nathaniel Phillips of Slebech', concerning NLW, Slebech Estate Records 4292-4302; (ix) 'Isaac Williams of Cardiganshire – the Christian poet – an introduction to his nature poetry', 1984, an article subsequently published in Transactions of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion (1986), 115-126; and (x) 'NLW MS 15505 Picton Papers and Letters', [n.d.], consisting of transcripts (and in some cases translations from the Welsh) of letters of Welsh-American interest in NLW MS 15505E, as well as NLW MS 14111D and elsewhere. Jones, Professor of English at UCNW, Bangor (f. 1), enclosing a typescript draft of sleeve notes, prepared by the latter, for a gramophone record entitled Poets of Wales: David Jones (Argo, 1972), with copious manuscript notes and corrections by David Jones (ff. 2-9).
David Jones' notes include comments on his poems 'A, a, a, Domine Deus' (ff. 1 verso, 5), 'The Sleeping Lord' (ff. 1 recto-verso) and 'The Tribune's Visitation' (ff. 6-7). Also included is a revised typescript draft of the sleeve notes (ff. 10-17).

Welsh Women's Aid Archive (Archif Menywod Cymru/Women's Archive of Wales)

Papers donated by the Aberystwyth, Pontypridd and Cardiff branches of Welsh Women's Aid. They include material relating to the constitution, corporate structure, strategic development and codes of practice of Welsh Women's Aid; records of its Management Committee and of numerous departmental meetings; internal and external correspondence; accounting, fundraising and other administrative papers; material celebrating Welsh Women's Aid's twenty-first, twenty-fifth and fortieth anniversaries; and individual branch archives of Welsh Women's Aid, all of which reference the issues affecting women and their children who access Women's Aid, such as domestic violence, social welfare and law and legislation.

There is considerable overlap of subject-matter within sections of the archive: for example, corporate and work reports, statistics and questionnaires, as well as material relating to violence against women, children/families, housing and benefits appear under multiple sections, while records of individual group meetings such as Employment and Finance or material relating to accounts, conferences, training courses, etc frequently appear under details of Management Committee meetings, Annual Reviews and so forth.
