Scope and content
Letters and papers mainly of the Salesbury family of Rug, 1704-1739. The letters to Roger Salesbury from Walter Wells in London, David Lloyd of St Asaph, Timothy Gregory of St Asaph, and to John Eyton of Plase Isa from William Wynn, all concern the tenths, lactuals, annuals, etc. charged on the rectory of Corwen, and the tithe wool, 1706-1711. There are accompanying receipts for payment of the said dues, 1704-1716. The letter by David Lloyd mentions ‘Your Heraldry Booke is safe at Gresford’, 1706. The file also contains a general release from Morris Vaughan, Canon of Windsor, brother of Jane Vaughan, wife of Roger Salesbury of Rug, both deceased, to Lumley Salesbury, 1722; and a letter from Mrs Cornwallis to John Pughe on birth of his son, 1739.
