A commonplace book of John Lloyd James ('Clwydwenfro'; 1835-1919), Congregational minister at March, Cambridgeshire, etc. The volume, begun in 1907, includes verses entitled 'Deucanmlwyddiant Rhydyceisiad, cyfarfod dathliad, 26 Awst, 1907' by Jonathan N. Davies ('Carnalaw'; 1833-1912), Liverpool; a list of members of Rhydyceisiaid Congregational Church, Carmarthenshire, 1803-17; extracts from accounts of Glandŵr Congregational Church, Pembrokeshire, 1723-60; a list of the themes and texts of sermons preached at the bicentenary services of Rhydyceisiaid Congregational Church, 1907; transcripts of hymns by the Reverend Lewis Thomas, Bwlch-sais, Llanfyrnach (d. 1745), first minister of Glandŵr Congregational Church; extracts from a manuscript which includes notes of sermons by Lewis Thomas; holographs and press cuttings of poetry, and translations of poetry, by 'Clwydwenfro', 1908-10; notes relating to the relationships of family members of 'Clwydwenfro'; a list of baptisms at Glandŵr Congregational Church, 1750-9; a biographical note on Jonathan N. The original manuscript of an article entitled 'Philistiaeth yng Nghymru' (emended from 'Philistiaeth Lenyddol Cymru') by the Reverend William Richard Jones ('Goleufryn'), published in Y Geninen, 1885, pp. 275-83, under the pseudonym of 'Siluriad', together with the manuscripts of a lengthy footnote by the editor, John Thomas ('Eifionydd'), and five holograph letters, 1890, from 'Eifionydd' to 'Goleufryn' relating thereto; a holograph letter, 1887, from the Reverend J. C. Jones, Mankato, Minnesota, U.S.A., to W. R. Jones ('Goleufryn') (a preaching engagement); a holograph letter, 1904, from [O. G. Owen] ('Alafon'), Cwmyglo, to Mrs. Jones, wife of 'Goleufryn', relating to a contribution to the writer's edition of Gweithiau Llenyddol Goleufryn (Caernarfon, 1904); and a holograph poem ('Cywydd: 'Tylodi'') by 'Alafon'.
Poetry by, and in the autograph of, the Reverend H. R. Williams ('Llwydrudd'), Corris, and press cuttings of some of his works, including an essay on old Merioneth poets ('Hen Feirdd Meirion'). Among the poems is an elegy entitled 'Pryddest Goffa i'r diweddar Mr. Richard James, Painter, Talybont', submitted to an eisteddfod held at Tabernacle Baptist Chapel, Tal-y-bont, Cardiganshire, 1925.
