'Yes for Wales' 1997 Referendum Campaign Records

The collection comprises: Group 1: papers, 1997-1998, deriving from the Cardiff HQ of the 'Yes for Wales' campaign, including correspondence, strategy papers, minutes of committees and sub-groups, campaign materials, conference papers, financial papers, material emanating from the various Yes Supporting Groups, and papers deriving from several local support groups, among them Swansea, Pontypridd, Ceredigion and Neath. Group 2 consists of correspondence, press releases, governmental publications, strategy papers and campaign materials, 1997-1998. Group 3 comprises correspondence, minutes and agenda, strategy papers, financial papers, membership papers, press and media papers, newsletters, volumes of press cuttings, papers relating to each of the political parties in Wales, other support groups and a few papers relating to the 'No' campaign in 1997.

File contains amendments proposed by the Welsh Liberal Democrats to the Government of Wales Bill, result of research into attitudes towards the parties and a policy speech by Lord German.

Papers relating to work with the Institute of Welsh Affairs

The file comprises papers relating to a conference held by the Institute of Welsh Affairs on 20-21 March 1998 on the future National Assembly for Wales including agendas, list of attendees and papers relating to the structure and election system for the National Assembly, along with drafts and correspondence of a paper written by Paul Silk on the secondary legislative powers proposed for the National Assembly for Wales, explaining their significance and how they would operate.
