A manuscript volume, written throughout by William Owen [-Pughe], containing transcripts of parts of two older manuscripts, the one in the hand of Lewis Morris (BL Add. MS 14908, ff. 36-58), and the other in the hand of Owen Jones (Owain Myfyr) (BL Add. MS 15020, pp. 1-5, 7-12, 27-28, 33-35, 44-45, 52-58, 67-70, 93-107, 109-115, 117-123). The first item in the present manuscript is a transcript of the Statute of Rhuddlan, 'Ystatus Rhuddlan yw hon. A.D. 1283', copied from Lewis Morris's manuscript, which is in turn a copy of a vellum manuscript in the Hengwrt library (now Peniarth MS 41), which he transcribed in 1738 (pp. 1-39). The remainder of the present manuscript is copied from BL Add. Transcripts and English translations by William Owen [-Pughe] of the 'Mabinogion' and other medieval prose texts, together with a few miscellaneous items. Most of the transcripts appear to have been made between 1826 and 1831, and the complete work was prepared for the press in 1834 but never published. A manuscript volume, written in the year 1800 by William Owen [-Pughe], containing an English translation of the tale 'Peredur' which is sub-titled 'A Tale Of the Britons' with the Welsh text facing. The Welsh version is said on p. 234 to be transcribed from a manuscript in the hand of the poet Huw Llyn [i.e. BL Add. MS 14967, pp. 284-321], 'Adysgriviad o hen lyvyr wedi ei ysgrivenu gan Huw Llyn y Barz', but a note on page 60 suggests that the beginning of the tale was missing when the present manuscript was bound and that the transcriber added the missing part of the text on 21 Sept. 1827: 'Cyvysgrivwn odd y deçreu hyd yma, a oedd a'r goll pan rwymid y llyvr. D. Gwener, Medi 21. 1827. W. O. P. Segrwyd'. The following note appears on p. 235: 'Finished Dec. 31 1800, 9 o'clock at night - 3 hours before end of the 18th. century - Wm. Owen'. Written on the front fly-leaf is a medical recipe for 'Sore throat ulcerated' as well as the name 'W. Owen No. 40 Penton Street, Pentonville'. Pages 1-2 and 236-237 contain quotations from the works of medieval Welsh poets and the triads referring to Peredur with references to The Myvyrian Archaiology of Wales ..., Vol. 1 (1801), and Barddoniaeth Dafydd ab Gwilym (1789).

A composite volume containing miscellaneous historical and literary material in the hand of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'). Pp. 24-36 contain a transcript of a version of the medieval Welsh Chronicle of the Princes associated with the name of the fifteenth century poet and genealogist Ieuan Brechfa with the title or superscription 'Brut y Tywysogion . . . a dynnwyd o Lyfrau Caradawc Llancarfan ac eraill o hen Lyfrau Cyfarwyddyd a ysgrifenodd Ieuan Brechfa'. The transcript was allegedly made by Edward Williams from a volume in the possession of Rhys Thomas, printer, of Cowbridge, and the text was published in The Myvyrian Archaiology of Wales, vol. II, 1801, pp. 470-565 (bottom section of pages). Pp. 37-135 contain one of the two known reputed transcripts by Edward Williams of the allegedly variant version of the aforesaid Welsh Chronicle of the Princes known as 'Brut Aberpergwm' or the 'Gwentian Brut'. The title or superscription reads 'Llyma Vrut y Tywysogion val y bu Ryfeloedd a Gweithredoedd enseiliaid a Dialeddau a Rhyfeddodau gwedi eu tynnu o'r hen gofion cadwedig a'u blynyddu'n drefnedig gan Garadawc Llancarfan', and the text was reputedly transcribed by [Edward Williams] 'Iorwerth Gwilym' in 1790 from one of the manuscripts of the Reverend Thomas Richards, curate of Llangrallo [co. Glamorgan], who, in turn, had reputedly copied the work in 1764 from a manuscript in the possession of George Wiliams of Aber Pergwm [co. Glamorgan] (see p. 135). For the other reputed transcript of this text allegedly from the same source see NLW MS 13113B (Llanover C. 26) above. In a note on the aforementioned 'title-page' (p. 199) Edward Williams claims to have transcribed this collection in 1799 from a manuscript in the possession of Siams Thomas of Maerdy Newydd, co. Glamorgan. Preceding and following the actual text of the collection are transcripts of a prefatory letter dated 1685 (pp. 201-06) and of the concluding note already referred to (p. 390) both of which are attributed to the Glamorgan scribe and copyist Thomas ab Iefan of Tre Bryn as compiler of the manuscript from which Edward Williams was allegedly copying (see TLLM, t. 172; IM, tt. 291-4). Pp. 391-477 contain a transcript of a collection, in alphabetical order, of over three thousand Welsh proverbs attributed to Cattwg Ddoeth ('Llyma Ddiarhebion Cattwg Ddoeth . . . sef yw hwnn Ail Lyfr y Gwyddfardd Cyvarwydd'). This collection, according to the aforementioned note at the end of the preceding section (p. 390) attributed to Thomas ab Iefan, had been compiled by the said Thomas from various sources and formed a continuation of the previous section. Edward Williams's claim with regard to the Siams Thomas volume is probably intended to apply to the contents of pp. 391-477 as well. A manuscript in the autograph of Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd) containing triads (pp. 1-32); poetry, the poets cited including Taliesin, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Siôn Cent and Gruffydd Dwnn (pp. 33-86, 95-102); a list of Welsh holy (saints') days (pp. 87-90); names of Welsh rivers and their sources (pp. 91-94); etc. The volume also contains an appendix in the hand of D[avid] Ellis, [1787x1788]. The section containing triads is apparently left unfinished as most of p. 32 and the whole of p. 33 are blank.

At the end of the volume is a note by Evan Evans stating 'Y Gramadeg uchod a fenthygiwyd gennyfi Evan Evans offeiriad y gan y Parchedig Mr. Robert Nannau Periglor Llan Fwrog, a yscrifenwyd gan Robert Fychan or Hengwrt ag a ddatscrifennwyd ... yn 1784'.

On f. iv the title page reads 'Y Cynfeirdd Cymreig, Vol. II'.
This manuscript is the source of the text of Series I of the Triads in the Myvyrian Archaiology Vol. ii, pp. 1-22. The englynion at ff. 119-122b are practically the same as those in Myvyrian Archaiology, pp. 543-547, col. i, but that the arrangement is different. The text at f. 132 was copied in September 1758 from an autograph manuscript of Edward Lhuyd. The text at f. 154 verso was transcribed from Llyfr Coch Nannau (see Mostyn MS 144) 'and collated it with my brother Lewis Morris MSS'.
