Notable items within the collection are a series of letters sent to Silyn Roberts by poet R. Williams Parry while the latter was serving in the First World War, and a draft manuscript copy of Cerddi'r Bugail, the commemorative volume of the poems of Hedd Wyn (Ellis Humphrey Evans) (1887-1917).

The papers of Gordon MacDonald, 1st Baron MacDonald of Gwaenysgor (1888-1966) comprising correspondence, copies of documents, speeches, transcripts for radio broadcasts, diplomatic dispatches, diaries, photographs and ephemera. They relate mainly to his political career as Labour Member of Parliament for Ince, Regional Controller for the Ministry of Fuel and Power for the Lancashire, Cheshire, and North Wales Region during WW2, Governor of Newfoundland and Paymaster General as well as his political interests in the Labour Party and international affairs and his Christian faith. The papers from his period in Newfoundland deal extensively with the negotiations and referenda related to confederation with Canada as well as the resulting political fallout.

The greater part of the archive consists of letters to or from Richard Venables, 1810-1858, archdeacon of Carmarthen, mainly from solicitors and members of his family and dealing largely with personal, legal, and business matters, and of letters to or from his two sons Richard Lister Venables, vicar of Clyro, 1835-1893, (mainly letters from his brother George) and George Stovin Venables, Q.C. [?1831]-1888, (mainly social, personal and legal). Other personal papers include the diaries of Richard Lister Venables, 1828-1893, diaries and journals of George Stovin Venables, and diaries of Mary Hannah Venables, 1809-1834. -- The remainder of the archive comprises mainly title deeds, 1665-1863, relating to properties in Breconshire, Denbighshire, Merioneth, Radnorshire, Montgomeryshire, and in the USA, personal, housekeeping and bank accounts, 1806-1893, and material relating to establishing All Saints church, Newbridge-on-Wye, 1883.

The collection comprises records from the office of Williams & Williams, Haverfordwest, solicitors, largely deeds and draft deeds, mostly 19th century, and many relating to the Haverfordwest area of Pembrokeshire. In the course of their work, Williams & Williams accumulated legal and other papers relating to their clients interests, including the estates of Ambleston, Begelly, Brawdy, Camrose, Court House, Cwmgloyne, Hean Castle, Hodgeston, Hook, Manorbier, Manorowen, Orielton, Pigeonsford, Somerton, Treffgarne, Ty Gwynne, Walwyns Castle, Welsh Hook, Wilsons, Wolfsdale and Yelverton. There are also documents relating to the Fishguard Harbour Improvement Company, several railway companies and a large number of probate records and marriage settlements. Ebenezer John Williams, mostly relating to his duties as minister and the chapel and water works in Llanwddyn, 1882-1889; and letters to John Williams, [late 19th cent.], mostly relating to the iron industry.
