And Our Faces, My Heart, Brief As Photos

A short experimental work whose title and inspiration was taken from an anthology of poetry and prose by art critic and novelist John Berger. Incorporating song and film, the production was a collaboration between Earthfall and the Welsh Independent Dancers and Man Act theatre companies. Items comprise printed performance ticket; publicity notice; and creative notes.

Islwyn constituency

Material relating to Don Touhig's political career following his 1995 by-election victory as MP for Islwyn. Material includes diaries kept by Mrs Jennifer Touhig, wife of Don Touhig, 1998, 2001-2010, 2013; election campaign material; constituency reports and statistics; Islwyn Constituency Labour Party meeting agendas and minutes; press releases; press cuttings; and correspondence, which includes numerous letters and cards to Don Touhig from Islwyn constituents expressing thanks for their recent visit to the Houses of Parliament and for services rendered and to offer congratulations following his elevation to the peerage and on his retirement.

Tower Ballroom Project/Vintage Dance

Material relating to Jazz Heritage Wales's Tower Ballroom Project, which involved the collection of local people's reminiscences, anecdotes, photographs, etc about the Tower Ballroom, Swansea, these to be used in exhibitions at both Jazz Heritage Wales and the Phoenix Centre, Swansea. Together with material relating to performances by the Women in Jazz Allstars Swing Band at a Vintage Dance held 23 March 2012 at Townhill Community Centre, Swansea as part of the Tower Ballroom Project.

Women in Politics

Drafts of speeches, with handwritten notes, on women in politics and specifically in the south Wales valley and as members of the National Assembly for Wales along with documents related to visits with the British Council to China, Brazil and Azerbaijan to highlight Wales' record on women’s representation in the National Assembly for Wales. This file also includes a conference organised by Christine Chapman on domestic abuse in the Cynon Valley and two published academic articles co-written with Julia Edwards on the policy of twinning Constituency Labour Parties to promote equal representation of men and women as candidates in winnable constituencies.
